Responding to COVID-19 lockdown challenges in 2021, Arab Council Australia launched a six-month project that brought together young people from diverse neighborhoods in Sydney. The mission: foster connections across Sydney, bridging divides and promoting resilient communities in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown.
It was so successful, Council expanded the project and it became "Reconnecting East and West: COVID and Beyond." Participants from diverse backgrounds engaged in co-designed activities, including social gatherings, meeting with community leaders, engaging and discussion groups and and finally, were trained in film and radio production.
The result was the "Reconnecting East and West" live radio program, by young people, for young people, which aired live each Sunday from 17 March to 5 May 2024, on Radio Skid Row 88.9 FM.
